PastThere are countless realms within the universe. Some are virtually mirror image of the realm that one might have came from while others are vastly different with things beyond the wildest imagination dwelling within. Entering these different realms is as easy as stepping into one room to another. Through, on occasions there are doors that need to be opened or even unlocked, but given how generally easy it is for one to go from one realm to another it is quite common for one to enter a realm that is not their own, and often one is unaware they had done such a thing due to how similar the realm they had just entered is to their own. Cayvian was born into a realm similar to an old world earth. However, the species that dominated the world was a kind of elf. His people lived within a peaceful society and devoted their entire existence to their deities or "The Fates" as they called them. Their destiny is revealed at the moment of their birth and they immediately begin their training to fulfill whatever destiny The Fates had declared for them. Their greatest crime is going against what the fates had decreed, and while most would perish the thought it does happen.
Each village has three augurs, beings who were neither male nor female, beings who neither young or old, yet all these things at the same time. They were the one who revealed one's destiny upon their moment of birth and as such they are one of the few that is allowed into the birthing chamber. They had been present when Cayvian's parents had been born and were present when Cayvian was born. Although, it was believed that his birth shouldn't have happened. He was the result of his parents going against the path The fates had laid out for them, but this belief changed when his own destiny was revealed. Upon that moment it became clear that his parents had been brought together for the sole purpose of bringing him into the world. He was the Fate's hands upon the world. He was not as the augurs. He did not reveal someone's destiny. Instead, his purpose was to protect the balance of the universe and deal with anyone who threaten it. This was a purpose that would most likely take him to other worlds within the universe as his duty was not just safeguarding his people's world but the universe as a whole.
After Cayvian's birth, his parents had no more interest within each other and went their separate ways, leaving the augurs to raise their son. They didn't abandon their child out of a sense of indifference, but rather gave their son to those whom they believed were better suited to teaching him everything he needed to know about his destiny and helping him harness any abilities that came along with it. He had a strict yet happy childhood. The augurs took their role as his caregiver seriously, and raised him to do the same with his role as protector. The years drifted by and Cayvian grew from a boy into a man, and those around him--especially the augurs marveled at the man that he had become. They all knew it was a matter of time before his destiny swept him away from them, and while they rejoice at the idea of him reaching his true potential they grieved the thought of his absence.

The years passed and Cayvian found himself traveling to countless worlds. Some a mere reflection of the one he had came from while others so alien that he could scarcely believe they were real. This disbelief came less often the more of the universe he saw until he found himself adjusting flawlessly to any world he found himself within no matter how different it was from the one he had been born within. One day Meelis came with a task different from the others he had been given. Meelis told Cayvian that the fates wished for him to find a young woman and aid her. This woman was not just important to the balance of the universe, but also Cayvian's soul mate. The entire notion seemed strange to Cayvian. He didn't know exactly why. He understood just how much influence one had over the delicate balance of the universe--more than most suspect. After some consideration he decided that it was the notion of him having a soulmate that he found so off-putting.
He didn't reject the concept of love, or even the idea that one had someone they were destined to be with. In fact, he encouraged others to hold this belief. He just didn't believe it was a concept for him. He believed his purpose too vital to get tangled up within the webs of love, but given his faith within the fates he decided to do as they commanded and seek out this woman. Even if he was being deceived they had clearly decided that she was important and he would do whatever he can to safe guard her against whatever horrors the fates believed was coming for her.
